WINERY OF THE YEAR
2015 JAMES HALLIDAY WINE COMPANION
“5 star winery”
Haselgrove is excited to announce they have won the ‘Dark Horse’ WINERY OF THE YEAR at the annual launch of the James Halliday Wine Companion 2015 in Melbourne last night (Tuesday 29th July, 2014).
In addition to be recognised for a winery that has undergone a correction in its ranging and direction, the winery was also recognised with a 5 star status. Additionally, wines gaining 94 points or higher are described within the Wine Companion as “Outstanding Wines of the highest quality, often with distinguished pedigree. Tasting notes will always appear within the Wine Companion”
A total of 7 wines were reviewed from the Haselgrove range featuring 94 points or higher were:
Haselgrove “CATKIN” Shiraz 2012 – Dense, opaque colour; while full bodied and totally laden with sumptuous black fruits, the texture is a mix of satin and velvet, its tannins and French oak held within that perfectly ripened fruit. Rating 96 To 2032.
Haselgrove “CRUTH” Shiraz 2011 – Uncompromisingly full bodied savoury/earthy/tarry black fruits backed by persistent tannins on the long palate. None of the wines from the Legend series has suffered from the vintage – but it is a bold move to debut a group such as this from 2011 Rating 95 to 2035
Haselgrove “The Ambassador” Single Vineyard Shiraz 2011 – In familiar McLaren Vale style with plum and blackberry and dark chocolate on the expressive bouquet and supple, rounded palate, the tannins and oak play long stop for a polished wines. Rating 95 To 2030.
Haselgrove “CATKIN” Shiraz 2011 – Rating 94 To 2020
Haselgrove “COL CROSS” Single Vineyard Shiraz 2011 – Rating 94 To 2026
Haselgrove “THE LEAR” Single Vineyard Shiraz 2011 – Rating 94 To 2021
Haselgrove “SWITCH” Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre 2012 – Rating 94 To 2037
The latest accolade adds to a very successful year for Haselgrove. The past 12 months have seen Haselgrove’s range receive comparable recognition by Robert Parker (7 wines rated 90+ points), Wine Spectator (2 wines rated 90+ points) and the Trophy at the Royal Hobart Wine Show for the Haselgrove Switch GSM.
HASELGROVE “ASIAN TRIUMPH”
THE GREAT WALL to KOREA
On the back of Haselgrove winning the ‘Dark Horse’ WINERY OF THE YEAR at the annual launch of the James Halliday Wine Companion 2015, Haselgrove has been recognised amongst the very top of world wines by being awarded 2 trophies at the TOP WINES IN CHINA that was judged against over 600 entries from around the world by 8 “Master of Wine” from the UK, US, Australia and New Zealand.
The night of all nights was presented at the foot of the Great Wall of China, Beijing. Receiving the accolade was the Haselgrove CRUTH Shiraz 2012 and the Haselgrove CATKIN Shiraz 2012 collecting a trophy each of a total 27 trophies awarded on the night.
“To be judged against an invited selection of the very best of world wine, and judged at the top by eight of the world’s highly respected Masters of Wine is a credit to the continued confirmation of the Haselgrove winemakers Greg Clack and Matthew Copping making Haselgrove as a top producer of world wine”
In addition, the release by the Korean Airlines First Class listing of the Haselgrove COL CROSS Single Vineyard Shiraz 2011 and Business Class listing of the Haselgrove CATKIN Shiraz 2012 is an exciting addition to the expansion of Haselgrove consumption around the world.
