Tasting Notes:
Deep and dense purple with dark ruby edges.
Aroma
Youthful, perfumed summer berries leap from the glass.
Fresh red cherry and raspberry are complimented by a lick of blackberry and a hint of spice.
Palate
Juicy and vibrant palate full of summer strawberries, red cherry, raspberry with just a few hints of blackberry. Supple and soft tannins lead into a fresh and crisp fruit finish
Don’t be afraid to chill me in summer.
Vineyards:
Sourced from a single vineyard in the low-lying hills of McLaren Vale. These relatively young vines are planted on a west facing slope in 50 million year old calcareous silt stone overlying a bedrock of limestone. The vines were hand pruned and shoot positioned to produce an even and consistent canopy and fruit distribution.
Winemaking:
Machine picked fruit that was added straight to the bottom of the fermenter with no crushing resulting in whole berries. Open fermented for 12 days and gently hand plunged twice a day. Pressed to seasoned French oak and matured for 9 months. No fining or acid additions and lightly filtered at bottling.
